I've started writing this blog several times over the past few months, and every time I found myself staring at a blank screen.
Not because I didn't know what I wanted to say.
Because I wasn't quite ready to say it.
After eight incredible years as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, the time has come for me to begin a new chapter. I will continue seeing clients through June 2027, and then I will be retiring.
Even now, those words are bittersweet.
When I first became an NTP, I thought my role would simply be to teach people about nutrition and help guide them through their thyroid issues. I quickly discovered it was so much more than that.
I had the privilege of listening to your stories.
I celebrated your victories, both the big ones and the tiny ones that only someone on a healing journey truly understands.
I watched hope return to faces that had almost forgotten what hope looked like.
I witnessed people begin to believe in their bodies again.
What a gift that has been.
Each of you arrived with your own story. Some were frustrated after years of searching for answers. Some wanted to prevent disease before it started. Others simply wanted to feel like themselves again.
No matter why you came, you entrusted me with something incredibly precious, your health.
That trust has never been something I took lightly.
One of the things I have loved most about Nutritional Therapy is that it doesn't chase perfection. It teaches us to honor the incredible design of the human body by giving it the nutrients, support, and care it needs to do what it was created to do.
Healing doesn't always happen quickly.
Sometimes it comes in tiny victories.
Sleeping through the night.
Less pain.More energy.
Clearer thinking.
Steadier moods.
Digestive comfort.
Balanced blood sugar.
A lab value moving in the right direction.
Or simply waking up one morning and realizing..."I finally feel like myself again."
Those moments never became ordinary to me. Not once.
Every success my clients experienced felt like a reason to celebrate.
If I could bottle up one feeling from these past eight years, it would be gratitude.
Gratitude for every appointment.
Every conversation.
Every question.
Every follow-up email telling me, "It's working."
Every smile.
Every virtual hug.
Every life that intersected with mine, if only for a season.
The truth is, while I hope I have made a difference in your lives...You made a difference in mine.
As my husband and I prepare for retirement and our move to Florida, I'm looking forward to slower mornings, time with family, new adventures, and making memories that we've spent many years planning for.
But I will miss this.
I will miss meeting new clients.
I will miss watching someone discover that food really can change the way they feel.
I will miss celebrating your victories alongside you.
That part of my heart isn't retiring.
So, while I won't be seeing clients after June 2027, don't be surprised if a new blog appears from time to time.
If new research catches my attention...
If I learn something that I believe could help others...
Or if there's simply something on my heart that I want to share...
I'll still be here occasionally.
Because nutrition has never just been my profession.
It's become part of who I am.
Before I close this chapter, I'd like to leave you with one final thought.
Your body is not your enemy.
It has been working every second of every day to keep you alive.
Treat it with kindness.
Feed it well.
Move it often.
Let it rest.
Give it grace.
And never underestimate what consistent, nourishing choices can accomplish over time.
Health is not found in perfection.
It is found in the thousands of small decisions we make every single day.
Keep choosing real food over processed food whenever you can. Your future self will thank you for every nourishing choice you make.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey.
Thank you for trusting me.
Thank you for teaching me.
Thank you for reminding me, over and over again, why I chose this path.
These eight years have been among the most fulfilling of my life, and I will carry every one of you with me into this next chapter.
I wish you abundant health, endless hope, and a life filled with joy.
Take good care of yourselves.
With all my gratitude,
Elaine Damerau Swanson, NTP
