Let’s talk about symptoms this month. For every symptom you have, there is a cause. So, before you take a pharmaceutical or an over-the-counter pill for the symptom (Those pharmaceuticals and OTC pills all cause symptoms and side effects themselves), look for the CAUSE.
I will list a few of the symptoms per “Foundation” to show you what I am talking about.
Problems in the Upper Gastrointestinal System:
Belching or gas within one hour after eating
Heartburn or acid reflux
Bloating within one hour after eating
Problems with Liver and Gallbladder:
Pain between shoulder blades
Dry skin, itchy feet, or skin peels on feet
Headache over eyes
Problems with the Small Intestine:
Abdominal bloating 1 to 2 hours after eating
Food sensitivities
Asthma, sinus infections, stuffy nose
Problems with the Large Intestine:
Fungus or yeast infections
Irritable bowel or mucus in stools
Excessive foul-smelling lower bowel gas
Mineral needs:
Calf, foot or toe cramps at rest
Cuts heal slowly and/or scar easily
Decreased sense of taste or smell
Fatty Acid needs:
Tension headaches at base of skull
Muscles easily fatigued
Sunburn easily or suffer sun poisoning
Poor Sugar Handling:
Awaken a few hours after falling asleep, hard to get back to sleep
Headache if meals are skipped or delayed
Binge or uncontrolled eating
Vitamin Needs:
Muscles become easily fatigued
Ringing in the ears (Tinnitus)
Strong light at night irritates eyes
These above are what we call the “Foundations”, anything that is off here, will cause an issue in the “Consequences”
The Consequences are:
Adrenals
Pituitary
Thyroid
Female Reproduction, hormones/Male Reproduction, hormones
Cardiovascular
Kidneys
Immune System
So, EVERY symptom, has a cause and addressing your foundations, will either prevent consequences, or help them to move in a more positive direction! The very first thing I do with clients is a Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire, 316 questions about YOUR symptoms and how we can begin addressing the causes.
This month was an insanely busy month for me, and I realized I had put no thought into what recipe I would share with this blog! My husband had come up with this amazing salsa when we were camping, and it is too good NOT to share! We used local peaches from an orchard in our town, and corn from a local farmer, the basil from our garden. We love this with a pork roast or pork chops, but it would be amazing on chicken or fish too!
Corn and Peach Salsa
Serves 4
Ingredients:
1 non-GMO ear of corn, grilled
2 organic peaches, skin peeled and chopped
3 Tbsp organic basil cut using the chiffonade technique (described below)
Instructions:
Shuck the corn and grill, rotating until evenly browned. Put in refrigerator to cool off.
Peal the peaches and slice into small pieces.
Chiffonade the basil! To do this, you take the basil leaves, stack them, largest to smallest. Roll them up lengthwise and cut thin ribbons of the basil.
Take the corn out of the fridge, and cut the kernels off of the cob.
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and let set for about an hour in refrigerator.
Enjoy this over pork, chicken or fish, or simply use with Siete brand tortilla chips!
